Jim Halsey was born in Independence, Kansas to Harry E. Halsey, Jr. and Carrie Lee (Messick) Halsey. He attended Washington School, Jr. and Sr. High School and Independence Junior College. In October 1949, following a vision from a book report assignment on the life of Sol Hurok, junior college student Jim Halsey was inspired to present shows and dances at Memorial Hall and the Independence area. His first show/dance, Leon McAuliffe was the beginning of promotions that would include big band concerts, Broadway shows, classical music presentations, wrestling, ice shows and circuses.  
 
Jim Halsey has worked in the music industry for more than sixty years and has helped discover and guide the careers of famous performers such as: Roy Clark, The Judds, Reba McEntire, Clint Black, James Brown, Roy Orbison, as well as continues his thirty six (36) year management relationship with the Oak Ridge Boys. With a well suited focus on music industry education, Jim Halsey currently helps aspiring artists learn how to make it in the Music Business through The Halsey Institute. Jim Halsey also consults through public and private speaking engagements. Halsey, as well, manages many projects related to the music and entertainment industry.    http://www.jimhalsey.com
